Malaysia’s Digital Growth Gets a Boost from HANDD and SEEBURGER Collaboration

In a move set to reshape the digital landscape of Malaysia and beyond, HANDD Business Solutions and SEEBURGER have recently entered into a strategic partnership at the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC)’s stunning new office in TRX, Kuala Lumpur. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks the beginning of a joint mission to empower businesses in Malaysia and the wider Asia Pacific (APAC) region to tackle the complex demands of digital transformation.

As organisations grapple with an accelerating digital shift, the combined expertise of HANDD and SEEBURGER will provide vital support, enhancing data security, integration capabilities, and the regional talent pool.

HANDD and SEEBURGER’s Collaborative Vision

In his keynote speech, Chris Farrelly, CEO of HANDD, highlighted the exciting potential of their collaboration with SEEBURGER, noting that while both companies are still in the process of expanding their presence in Malaysia and the APAC region, they bring a wealth of experience to the table.

SEEBURGER, founded in 1986 and headquartered in Germany, has a long history of innovation in integration solutions, while HANDD has worked with customers across the EMEA region for the past 20 years to ensure reliable data security and seamless integration. Chris expressed that both companies are uniquely positioned to drive digital transformation efforts in the region by leveraging their proven expertise and reputation.

“At HANDD, we are passionate about simplifying the delivery of data security, and our mission is to safeguard organisational data and mitigate technology adoption risks while accelerating compliance with security regulations,” Chris said, as he elaborated on the complexities businesses today face in managing an ever-increasing volume of data and applications, all while navigating an ever-growing list of regulations. Chris specifically mentioned the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act, the newly enacted Cyber Security Act 2024—and similar legislation emerging across the region—as an area where HANDD’s extensive experience with GDPR and other global standards can make a real difference.

“We’re equipped to guide businesses through the digital journey, and as an established data security integrator, we are delighted to be working with one of the world’s leading, if not the world’s leading, integration vendors, in SEEBURGER,” he added.

Stronger Together: Bridging the Gap in Digital Integration

Also present was Jan Kirsch, Managing Director at SEEBURGER, who shared his insights on the rapid evolution of the enterprise technology landscape. He spoke about the increasing number of endpoints businesses are managing today and the constant influx of new solutions that need to be integrated into existing systems.

“With new solutions emerging every day, the need to seamlessly integrate these technologies into enterprise ecosystems is becoming more pressing”, he explained, adding that with each new connection, security considerations also become more important, and companies need to stay ahead of the curve to safeguard their operations.

Jan believes that SEEBURGER’s Business Integration Suite (BIS) Platform is the key to managing these complexities. The BIS platform provides an agile, secure and scalable solution for the seamless integration of applications, people and processes across any cloud, hybrid or on-premises environment. “The integration of those applications—that’s what SEEBURGER brings to the table: the ability to manage and integrate them as a service, which is essential as the market increasingly demands solutions in a service-based model,” he continued.

In discussing SEEBURGER’s collaboration with HANDD, Jan was enthusiastic about the strong cultural alignment between the two companies. “I really look forward to working together on these new opportunities and with these new customers,” he said.

Jan went on to emphasise that one of SEEBURGER’s core values is “stronger together”, not just within the company but also in its relationships with customers and partners. “I look forward to this partnership, as I believe it will benefit both companies—and that’s always a good starting point, when there’s value for both sides. This is probably the most important first step.”

HANDD Joins the Ranks of Malaysia’s Digital Leaders

The event also celebrated a significant achievement for HANDD, as it was officially granted Malaysia Digital (MD) Status by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation(MDEC). This recognition positions HANDD as a key player in the nation’s digital ecosystem, aligning with Malaysia’s strategic push to become a leader in the global digital economy.

Choosing Malaysia as HANDD’s APAC/ANZ headquarters, Chris shared that they’re eager to expand their team here, and over time equip it to deliver hands-on support, guide technology migrations and overcome compliance challenges for customers. This move, he said, is about having the right resources in place to meet the market’s needs.

For Chris, the focus goes beyond just providing technology services. He’s deeply passionate about cultivating “a true Malaysian business” and tapping into the rich talent pool the country has to offer. “A big part of our MD Status is how we grow a Malaysian business with local talent and giving them the experience we have of the cybersecurity market.”

Delving deeper, Chris doesn’t believe Malaysia has a talent gap—what’s missing, he feels, is hands-on experience. “The gap is experience, and we need to address that. We need to establish academy schemes, drive internships, and give graduates the chance to work directly with the infrastructure of the cyber world—how the legacy systems interact with the cloud, and how all of this works together in business operations.” He believes that this practical, real-world experience is key to equipping the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Securing Malaysia’s Digital Future

Chris closed by reaffirming HANDD’s dedication to securing Malaysia’s digital future. “For us, it’s about joining the Malaysia Digital journey, making sure that we’re bringing the technologies, the expertise and the services to our clients in Malaysia to support their growth, to support their journey from a digital perspective. We’re very passionate about securing their data, about protecting data, providing a better security ecosystem for our customers.”
