Velo Technologies Officially Partners With Infinaxis to add 2MW Capacity to Upcoming Data Centre
Malaysia’s technological progress continues to soar as the nation follows the trajectory of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), supported by several comprehensive measures in Budget 2024 specifically designed to prop up business digitalisation. In fact, the Malaysian data centre market specifically is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.92% during the 2023-2029 period, projected to reach an expected US$ 3.97 billion by 2029.
In line with this growth, Infinaxis, a notable leader in data centre facility provision, is officially partnering with Velo Technologies (TelcoHubX), a renowned end-to-end data centre and managed service provider pledging an initial and significant 2 megawatts (MW) capacity. Through this partnership, which aims to generate RM100 million in value overall, Velo Technologies aims to expand its Cyberjaya data centre footprints and meet the growing demands of its clients.
This includes the ability to extend its established 24 x 7 day-to-day support structure and policies to Infinaxis, as well as offer an array of enhanced interconnectivity options leveraging TelcoHubX’s ecosystem. In addition, it intends to expand its suite of complete IT outsourcing and managed services to broaden its portfolio – including a 24 x 7 Proactive Monitoring Centre, complete IT outsourcing, enterprise network and security services, cybersecurity and hybrid cloud solutions, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Backup as a Service (BaaS) – and even boost the reliability and redundancy of its data centre operations, warranting the best uptime services for its clients.
“As we continue to expand our footprint, we are committed to meeting the evolving needs of the industry, primarily considering the increasing demand for advanced AI applications and high-power density requirements,” says Ben Chin, CEO & Founder of Velo Technologies. “This partnership not only marks a significant milestone in our journey, but also is an important step in transforming the data centre landscape in this region.”
The data centre is strategically located in Cyberjaya, and is scheduled to achieve Ready for Service (RFS) status by the second quarter of 2025. Notably, the data centre’s robust 12MW IT load capacity and floor loading capacity of 20kN/m2 primes the facility to address extensive data processing and storage needs, and underscores its resilience in supporting heavy IT infrastructure. In addition, with seven storeys, the facility is meticulously designed to accommodate businesses’ growth trajectories. Indeed, five levels are earmarked for data centre halls – with each level housing two halls – ensuring scalability and adaptability.
Furthermore, the data centre is carrier-neutral, fostering seamless interconnection with multiple telecommunications carriers so that clients have unparalleled flexibility in selecting their network providers. The data centre is also tailored to meet the demanding requirements of AI applications – characterised by higher power density deployment – with each rack boasting an average power ranging from 8kW to 15kW. As Velo Technologies is primarily geared towards supporting mid-tier enterprises with moderate IT requirements, the facility strikes a perfect balance between affordability and performance.
“We are thrilled about our partnership with Velo Technologies, a leading managed service provider for data centre solutions. This expansion will allow us to work in tandem to offer a wider range of Malaysian businesses a truly extended suite of offerings,” adds Zahri Mirza, CEO of Infinaxis.
All in all, creating data centre hubs – especially through powerful partnerships – is a massive leap forward in improving the nation’s overall capacity for communication, digitalisation, and ultimately, progress.
