StarHub Collaborates with Global Switch on Low Latency Data Centre Connect in Singapore
StarHub, a leading telecommunications service provider in Singapore, collaborates with Global Switch, a prominent owner, operator and developer of large-scale, carrier and cloud-neutral data centres in Asia-Pacific and Europe on Low Latency Data Centre Connect in Singapore.
“Aligned with our DARE+ initiative and Cloud Infinity programme, StarHub is proud to collaborate with Global Switch and leverage their ecosystems of data centre network and operations. With Low Latency Data Centre Connect, we aim to offer a purpose-built fibre network with minimal hops and latest state-of-the-art optical technology, supporting mission-critical application sensitive workloads to address customers’ latency-sensitive business needs,” said Tan Kit Yong, Head of Enterprise Business Group, StarHub.
Enabled by Cloud Infinity, StarHub’s hybrid multi-cloud platform, this collaboration will see Low Latency Data Centre Connect network, with ultra low-latency connectivity to Global Switch Singapore’s Woodlands and Tai Seng data centres. Tai Seng in particular, is recognised as one of the most interconnected data centres in Singapore and a key Asia-Pacific region connectivity hub that boasts a vibrant and ever-expanding ecosystem.
The state-of-the-art data centre now features an advanced fibre network that is fully diverse, ensuring maximum reliability through multiple paths. At the same time, the advanced fibre network is equipped with software-defined network capabilities to rapidly scale and meet the expanding bandwidth requirements of demanding OTT and cloud data services and applications. This is also coupled with a quantum encryption-ready network that will provide a protected network and robust security against advanced cyber-attacks.
Through Low Latency Data Centre Connect, Global Switch customers in Singapore will have secure on-demand connectivity to a global network of key data centre ecosystems and submarine cable PoPs for seamless connectivity, making this network a crucial asset for data-intensive operations.
“Global Switch is proud to support StarHub’s launch of Low Latency Datacentre Connect in our Woodlands and Tai Seng data centres. Our data centres in Singapore are home to the network PoPs of all major international telecommunications companies,” said Terence Teo, Managing Director, Global Switch Singapore.
“Additionally, a number of major submarine cable systems land directly in Global Switch Singapore Tai Seng. Virtually all ISPs, content delivery and hyperscalers are hosted at our two data centres in Singapore. Having Low Latency Datacentre Connect at our sites will enable all other data centres and cable landing stations in Singapore to connect to Global Switch Singapore for access to content and interconnections,” said Teo.
This collaboration is a testament to StarHub’s dedication to customer experience and staying ahead of the curve, providing its customers with the best possible experience. In addition to Low Latency Data Centre Connect’s advanced fibre network, StarHub is continuously exploring new opportunities for cloud-based services and seeking to improve and expand its offerings through its Cloud Infinity Programme.
