Snowflake Expands Global Reach of AI Data Cloud with Support for Microsoft Azure Mexico

Local Snowflake deployment will support Microsoft Azure customers, providing businesses like Oxxo unified and secure experience no matter where their data resides.

Snowflake, the AI Data Cloud company, today announced the expansion of its AI Data Cloud with support for Microsoft Azure Mexico. Founded in 2012, Snowflake is one of the fastest growing enterprise technology companies. Snowflake operates globally with more than 40 offices around the world and thousands of customers across many industries, including 754 of the Forbes Global 20001, use the Snowflake AI Data Cloud to power their businesses.

As global data regulations continue to evolve, Snowflake is focused on providing customers with a platform that meets their data residency and sovereignty requirements without compromising on performance. Through support of Microsoft Azure Mexico, organisations in Mexico and across LATAM will be able to more effectively leverage the built-in security and governance of the Snowflake platform while enabling cross-cloud flexibility and collaboration.

“Snowflake is committed to providing the enterprises of the world with the infrastructure necessary to succeed in the age of AI,” said Ernesto Serrano, Country Manager, Mexico, Snowflake. “By providing support for Azure Mexico to local businesses, Snowflake customers can further reduce latency and optimise performance for critical workloads all with the built-in security and governance of the AI Data Cloud.”

The launch of support for Microsoft Azure Mexico highlights Snowflake’s ongoing commitment to Mexico and LATAM as a strategic growth opportunity, providing customers with a consistent experience across cloud providers and regions. This regional implementation offers customers greater flexibility to select the cloud provider of their choice based on what suits their operational and regulatory requirements.

“Support for Microsoft Azure Mexico will empower organisations in Mexico to become more data-driven as they look to capitalise on and deploy generative AI capabilities within their business,” said Alfredo Badillo Chávez, Director, Data & AI Sales Director at Microsoft. “This deployment further expands the options available to customers seeking to mobilise their data and build AI applications at scale. By bringing data closer to end users, we’re enabling joint customers to drive innovation through advanced analytics, AI and machine learning applications.”

“As Latin America-founded organisations like Oxxo look to expand our global operations, having greater choice of how and where we store and analyze our data is crucial,” said Armando Ramirez, Global Data & Analytics Head, Oxxo. “Bringing the Snowflake AI Data Cloud to Azure Mexico offers tremendous potential for organisations in the region as they harness the power of these leading data and cloud providers to move their businesses forward to use generative AI with consistent security, privacy, and interoperability features no matter the region.”

The AI Data Cloud is enabled by the Snowflake platform, which offers: the near-unlimited scale and efficiency of a multi-cluster shared data architecture; the seamless interoperability of working with data across multiple public clouds as if they were one; baked-in security features that can’t be turned off; and modern data sharing, which allows virtually any number of organisations to share and receive live data with each other near-instantly and without having to move or copy data.
