OVHcloud Summit 2024: The Future of Cloud Begins Now

The Next Few Years Will Be All About Cloud Development

OVHcloud, a global cloud player and the European cloud leader, presents its latest innovations at the OVHcloud Summit, which brings together a wide ecosystem of decision-makers and technology experts at the Maison de la Mutualité in Paris.

Under the leadership of Octave Klaba, Founder and Chairman of OVHcloud, the event celebrated 25 years of customer innovation. It brought together a broad ecosystem of nearly 1,000 people including developers, Artificial Intelligence (AI) specialists, software editors, integrators, hardware providers, hardware manufacturers, network specialists, startups, students, CTOs, and decision-makers, all driven by the same passion for the cloud, which is at the heart of the Group’s innovation and strategy since it was founded in 1999.

“With 1.6 million customers and sales approaching a billion euros for the 2024 financial year, OVHcloud has become a preeminent force in the cloud, both in France and internationally. We are proud to have developed high-performance, trusted and sustainable products that meet the needs of an ever-growing number of customers. Our roadmap for 2025 focuses on making new public cloud products available, consolidating our private cloud offering and making further investments in our sovereign products,” said Benjamin Revcolevschi, OVHcloud’s new Chief Executive Officer, at the OVHcloud Summit 2024.

Trusted Cloud: SecNumCloud Qualification and Data Control

In today’s complex geopolitical environment, OVHcloud aims to offer a wide range of trusted and sovereign cloud services. As such, the Group has long invested in certifications such as ISO 27001, ISO 27701, C5 in Germany and ACN in Italy to guarantee the highest levels of data protection and security.

In France, OVHcloud is one of the first cloud service providers to have invested heavily in the SecNumCloud qualification—one of the most demanding in the world—with over 2,000 criteria reviewed, including protection against extraterritorial access. At the beginning of 2024, OVHcloud renewed its SecNumCloud qualification, meeting the Version 3.2 criteria for its offerings and data centres.

To give organisations even greater control over their environment and their data, the Group now offers its Bare Metal Pod solution. This sovereign offering consists of a secure, fully isolated rack that can be managed remotely to take advantage of the power of dedicated Bare Metal servers in an environment that is expected to be SecNumCloud certified by early 2025. This solution will serve as the basis for a wide range of Public Cloud products and services in a SecNumCloud environment.

For some customers, control over their infrastructure means keeping it local. According to Gartner, the on-prem market is set to grow by 28% per year between now and 2030. To support this movement, the group has developed its On-Prem Cloud Platform solution.

Behind the standalone hardware platform lies ten years of software development and innovation at the software level to deliver all the Cloud services needed to run Bare Metal, Hosted Private Cloud and Public Cloud, starting with storage (File, Block and Object Storage), Virtual Machines (VM), K8S and DataBase-as-a-Service (DBaaS). Everything is available in connected or disconnected mode, allowing organisations absolute control over their data, serving the most specific use cases, either in the customers’ data centres or at the Edge.

OVHcloud International Expansion: Milan 3-AZ Region and New Local Zones

The Group is continuing to invest in the roll-out of the first 3-AZ region outside of France, with the Milan 3-AZ region scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. It will host a product mix incorporating the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings of the OVHcloud Public Cloud (Compute, Storage, DBaaS, Managed Kubernetes, Managed Rancher, etc.) with an increased level of resilience.

The Group is also looking at five additional 3-AZ regions in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific to strengthen its global presence and meet the most demanding requirements when it comes to resilience.

Announced a year ago, Local Zones take advantage of gridscale’s innovative technology (an acquisition by OVHcloud in 2023) and enable the Group to serve new locations around the world. They meet the needs of customers who want to benefit from reduced latency times and local data residency. Since the first deployments in early 2024, 16 Local Zones are now available, with access to Object Storage recently added. By August 2025, the Group aims to open a total of 42 Local Zones, and a roadmap that includes approximately a hundred Local Zones across the world within the next two years.

Innovation for Customer Satisfaction

For 25 years, OVHcloud has continually driven innovation by testing, improving, iterating and readjusting its developments to better serve its customers and partners. At the summit, Yaniv Fdida, Chief Product and Technology Officer at OVHcloud, presented the developments underway in the various universes of the company:

Webcloud

The Webcloud universe benefits from a gradual renewal of its infrastructure to offer improved performance, initially for PERF offerings before a global roll-out in early 2025.

Since September, a selection of beta users has been testing Zimbra’s collaboration suite, available on OVHcloud. At the OVHcloud Summit, the beta programme will open up to all OVHcloud users, with the commercial launch of Zimbra Starter planned for 15 January 2025.

Content creators will also soon benefit from a fast, scalable, simple and secure managed web hosting platform with Managed WordPress Hosting, expected in a test version in mid 2025.

Bare Metal: Always Leading the Industry

This year, OVHcloud has completely renewed its range of Bare Metal servers, becoming the first European Cloud Service Provider to announce the availability of AMD EPYC 4004 processors, which are at the heart of the ADV-Gen3 range. The new Game Gen 3 servers share the same processor and are designed for hosting online gaming environments and platforms. They benefit from server-class technologies and an optimised thermal envelope for long-term performance. The Game DDoS Protection feature is now more accurate and applies to even more games, while offering superior traffic absorption capabilities.

Particular attention has been paid to the Bare Metal network subsystem, with the latest offerings benefiting from native 25G links. These are used to deliver capacities of up to 100G on the private network, where everything is now included at no extra cost. OVHcloud’s anti-DDOS solution is in the process of evolving to support IPv6 addressing, with the same level of protection performance as IPv4 currently enjoys.

In the coming months, the Bare Metal offering will be expanded to include new AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors based on the Zen 5 architecture. In addition, the fifth-generation AMD EPYC processors, codenamed Turin, will enable configurations with 384 physical cores per U and up to 18,000 cores per rack, for an ever more competitive cost per core, supporting even the most demanding scale-out scenarios.

OVHcloud

Public Cloud: Performance and Resilience

The Group’s Public Cloud strategy showcases OVHcloud’s commitment to providing innovative PaaS and IaaS solutions to better support its customers and partners. To this effect, OVHcloud has been deploying significant resources over the last ten years to develop a Public Cloud universe that is now comprised of more than 40 products and services. These reliable and secure IaaS and PaaS solutions offer the best performance-price ratio and are continually being adapted to meet customer needs.

At OVHcloud Summit 2024, the Group announced the availability of its  Key Management Service (KMS) solution. This enables encryption keys to be managed from a single location, whatever the Cloud and whether on OVHcloud, on-prem or through a third-party supplier. It has already been certified by third-party vendors and is “Nutanix Ready certified.”

The Group also announced the availability of its Object Storage API S3 in the 3-AZ region of Paris to enhance organisational resilience. With this new offer, customers can now take advantage of the resilience of the cloud applied to Object Storage, available in a choice of 1-AZ or 3-AZ configurations. OVHcloud Object Storage is the most competitive solution on the market and is backed by a 99.99% Service Level Agreement (SLA) for maximum data availability.

OVHcloud Data Platform and AI Endpoints Available with New AMD GPU Offerings

OVHcloud is committed to supporting its customers in data analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) with innovative data and AI solutions that are simple and affordable. These solutions are based on transparent, ethical and open models that preserve data confidentiality. OVHcloud guarantees the confidentiality of this data, ensuring that no one can exploit it.

OVHcloud Data Platform, a low-code solution made for unified end-to-end management of analytics needs (data collection, processing and retrieval) is now available as a Beta version. Using industry-standard collectors, it offers a seamless and secure integration of data, offering organisations greater freedom of choice across their tooling and methods.

AI Endpoints, now in General Availability, makes generic AI models easily accessible through on-demand endpoints. After months of testing, the serverless platform allows developers to choose their AI for easy integration into their apps. The AI Endpoints library features the latest AI models including Large Language Models (LLM), translation, speech and image recognition.

With the LLM model market moving faster than ever before, choosing the right LLM for each prompt has become crucial to getting the best possible answer. To help organisations manage this complexity and velocity, the Group today announces Omisimo. With Omisimo, OVHcloud offers a ‘router of prompts’.

Depending on the question, it will select the most appropriate open-source model, currently drawing on a set of eleven different LLMs. For example, for English to French translation, Omisimo would route through Llama 3.2, while image description will rely on Llama-vision. Available as a demo app and leveraging Group technologies including AI Deploy and AI Endpoints, Omisimo is freely accessible on chat.ovhcloud.com. An Omisimo API will follow shortly.

OVHcloud also announced the availability of the new AMD Instinct MI325X GPU within the next three months. Equipped with more vRAM, the servers offer more possibilities for LLM creators and users. The NVIDIA H200 NVL platform will also soon be available as a Public Cloud instance along with NVIDIA Blackwell GPU available in Point of Delivery.

Private Cloud: VMware and Nutanix for Hyperconverged Scenarios

To keep pace with the evolution of hyperconverged solutions, and in particular those from Broadcom, the Group has designed new offers to deliver the benefits of VMware without the constraints of managing dedicated infrastructure. The Group is today announcing the launch of Public VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) as a Service, with an unbeatable performance-price ratio. Private VCF and Dedicated VCF offers, based on VMware Cloud Foundation, with a finer level of control, will complete the package in the longer run.

OVHcloud’s Nutanix solution now also benefits from a wider choice of dedicated Nutanix-qualified servers to address use cases such as disaster recovery and migration of Nutanix workloads, at a lower cost for smaller enterprises. The new SCALE servers benefit from ISO 27701, SOC I and II type and HDS certifications. They feature fifth-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with 16 cores or more, and up to 6 NVMe SSDs for storage.

Nutanix on OVHcloud now benefits from additional backup solutions with the launch of Hybrid Cloud Up Time (HYCU) for OVHcloud, which simplifies backups, migrations and disaster recovery for Nutanix workloads.

Quantum Cloud: The Next Revolution

OVHcloud, an innovation pioneer, continues to drive the Quantum computing ecosystem. With six emulators available now through notebooks powered by Alice&Bob, C12, Eviden, Pasqal, Quandela and Qiskit, the Group is currently working on bringing new notebooks to organisations, including those from Quobly.

Reaching a new milestone, the Group today announces the launch of its Quantum Cloud. In partnership with European and American manufacturers, it will offer the ability to execute quantum calculation on real quantum computers, rather than notebooks. OVHcloud announces that Pasqal will be the first quantum computer joining the Quantum Cloud in 2025, offering a 100 Qubits quantum processing power (neutral atoms).
