Oracle, a global technology giant, has announced its latest innovation, the “Cloud@Customer” service, which brings the entire public cloud to customers who need it right next to their shop floor or hosted facility. This innovation is set to help businesses with networking or latency requirements, or those in regulated industries, including healthcare, financial services, or utilities.
Christopher G. Chelliah, Senior Vice President of Technology & Customer Strategy, Japan & Asia Pacific at Oracle, spoke at a media briefing about the new service. According to Chelliah, Oracle recognises that customers have varying needs and requirements when it comes to cloud services. While some may need to move their workloads to the public cloud, others are restricted by regulations or need their data to be in a particular location. With the “Cloud@Customer” service, Oracle offers the same cloud experience, including SLAs, cost economics, and capabilities, wherever the customer needs it to be.
Oracle has 41 cloud regions worldwide and plans to reach 50 by the end of the year. The company is opening new regions every 26 to 30 days, which is a remarkable feat that sets it apart from other hyperscalers. Oracle also recognises that many customers have already made decisions and commitments to other cloud providers. To address this, the company offers a multi-cloud strategy that allows customers to plug into the Oracle Cloud, even if they are running on a competitor’s cloud.
Christopher also highlighted Oracle’s commitment to helping customers remove the roadblocks to cloud adoption. He emphasised the importance of data security and accessibility, and how Oracle’s spectrum of offerings can meet customers where they are in their cloud journey. From on-premise infrastructure to the public cloud, Oracle’s comprehensive spectrum of cloud services can be deployed either in their cloud regions or on customers’ premises.
According to Christopher, the strength of Oracle’s solution lies in its ability to deliver a consistent, secure, and cost-effective cloud experience, no matter where customers are on the cloud spectrum. This, coupled with the ability to access data from multiple clouds, is driving customers to choose Oracle as their multi-cloud provider.
The “Cloud@Customer” service is set to be a game-changer for businesses with unique cloud requirements. With Oracle’s commitment to helping customers remove roadblocks and its extensive spectrum of cloud services, businesses can choose where to put their data, based on what makes the most sense for them. The new service is also an excellent example of Oracle’s customer-first approach, offering flexibility and choice to customers, regardless of their cloud needs.
As more and more consumers demand customisation and variety from their online services, the multi-cloud approach is getting traction. The capacity to eliminate usage barriers and provide data mobility so that data in other clouds can be accessed was a major point of emphasis. Because of this, clients have been able to reap the advantages of the cloud more quickly and continue on their cloud adoption journeys. Oracle’s expansion into new areas allows the company to better serve its clients and respond to their ever-changing needs.
