Nutanix, a leader in hybrid multi-cloud computing, today said the Yogyakarta City Communication, Informatics and Encryption Office (Diskominfosan) used the Nutanix Cloud Platform to integrate all 229 government applications onto the Jogja Smart Service (JSS) platform, improving the delivery and transparency of public services for more than 217,000 JSS users.
Yogyakarta, also known as Jogja or Jogjakarta, is a prominent city in Java Island, Indonesia renowned for its rich culture and education centers. Recognizing the importance of e-government, the Yogyakarta City Government embarked on a mission to transform its services and interact more effectively with the community, businesses, and citizens. Diskominfosan, the driving force behind this digital transformation, chose Nutanix as its strategic partner to streamline operations and improve the performance of the JSS application.
Diskominfosan successfully adopted a DevOps model using Microservices and Kubernetes on the Nutanix Kubernetes Engine, resulting in enhanced efficiency, flexibility, and collaboration. According to Diskominfosan, the elimination of silos between teams led to a shortened application response time of under 5 seconds. The implementation of Nutanix also led to an 80-percent reduction in IT man-hours and a 50-percent decrease in its overall IT operating costs. With most systems now automated, the team can allocate their time and resources more effectively. Furthermore, Nutanix helps ensure JSS information and services are available round the clock, even during peak use periods, without concerns about infrastructure reliability.
“The Nutanix platform provides the needed scalability and efficiency for our overall plan and blue map. The hope is that the JSS application and the Yogyakarta City Smart City program can become an example for the implementation of e-government aligns with regulations. The speed and flexibility of Nutanix’s technology will also greatly assist the formation of the city’s digital ecosystem, which can encourage the realization of a digital economy,” said Ignatius Trihastono, S, Sos., M.M., head of the Yogyakarta City Communication, Informatics and Encryption Office.
Before partnering with Nutanix, Diskominfosan encountered numerous challenges due to the fragmentation of IT systems and the complexity of managing large data sets across physical servers. Nutanix provided the optimal solution by offering a hyperconverged infrastructure solution that simplified operations, enhanced agility, and enabled faster application development through DevOps practices.
“We are proud to have played a crucial role in empowering the Yogyakarta City Government’s digital transformation journey. Our partnership with Diskominfosan exemplifies the power of technology in driving impactful changes in the public sector and creating a smart society ecosystem. We remain committed to supporting the Yogyakarta City Government’s vision and look forward to further innovation and success together,” said Han Chon, managing director, SEATHK at Nutanix.
The organization remains committed to innovation and further collaboration with Nutanix to advance the Smart City program in Yogyakarta. Future plans include implementing additional Nutanix solutions, such as Nutanix Files Storage, which will enhance the governance of centralized data security and resilience.
