A new InfoBrief report by Lenovo and AMD, dubbed “CIO Technology Playbook 2023,” aims to aid Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in making informed decisions about their IT spending in the context of today’s data-driven economy. By 2027, the research predicts, businesses in the Asia-Pacific region would get as much as 43% of their income from digitally linked goods, services, and customer experiences due to the region’s fast digital transformation. Based on responses from more than 900 regional CIOs and IT decision-makers, the survey found that respondents are very concerned about macroeconomic variables hurting corporate growth in 2023. While 53% of respondents listed “high inflation” as their primary worry, 50% cited “high energy prices” and “escalating raw material prices” as other significant obstacles.
As businesses seek to expedite their digital transformation and update their ageing IT infrastructure, the research identifies digital infrastructure, automation, and cybersecurity as the top investment priorities for 2023. As most Asian businesses want to keep more than half of their mission-critical workloads on tried-and-true data centre hardware, tried-and-true software platforms, and private cloud infrastructure, hybrid or multi-cloud solutions will become increasingly popular over the next two to three years. There has also been a rise in the use of as-a-Service consumption models in the area, with 85% of ASEAN+ firms either making use of or planning to implement such models over the next 12 months.
The “CIO Technology Playbook 2023” provides insights into 2023 technological trends such as AI/ML, Hybrid/Multi-Cloud, and Data Management solutions, and intends to provide CIOs and business leaders with the skills needed to develop future-ready digital infrastructure for sustainable success. The research also shows that CIOs want to use technology to better their supply chains, agility, and resilience so they can react more quickly to the demands of the business.
