NetApp Enhances Semyung University’s Campus IT Capabilities with Modern, Reliable Storage Solutions
Improvement of Academic Administration Systems Bolsters Academic Operations and Research Capabilities
NetApp®, the original intelligent data infrastructure company, has announced a partnership with Semyung University and introduced its storage solutions through IT service specialist KL Information & Communication.
Semyung University had been experiencing issues with system failures and insufficient storage space due to outdated information systems and infrastructure. Additionally, there was a need to improve the data backup system and establish a rapid and stable recovery system to flexibly respond to the increasing cyber threats.
To address these issues, NetApp, in collaboration with KL Information & Communication, introduced its FAS storage system and related solutions to Semyung University. The adoption of NetApp FAS8300 and MetroCluster solutions ensures that data protection and security services are smoothly provided even in the event of unexpected physical storage interruptions. Furthermore, a remote FAS2820 DR system was established using SnapMirror to prepare for disasters and emergencies.
THe intelligent data infrastructure company also implemented its ONTAP® Autonomous Ransomware Protection (ARP) feature, which automatically detects and generates snapshots in case of ransomware encryption, and SnapRestore, which allows for instantaneous point-in-time recovery. Additionally, a backup system utilising SnapVault was constructed to handle various data failures.
Getting Compelling Benefits Immediately from NetApp’s Modern Solutions
Following the implementation of these modern solutions, Semyung University saw a threefold improvement in the performance of its academic administration system and a doubling of its data storage capacity.
The ability to operate uninterrupted and enable remote DR via MetroCluster over IP networks has alleviated the operational burden, significantly enhancing productivity. The highly resilient storage technology ensures the university can provide normal services even during data failures, thus improving cyber threat resilience while providing an efficient working environment and improved educational conditions for faculty and students.
Dong-Hyun Kwon, President at Semyung University, stated, “Our university’s IT infrastructure has been significantly improved thanks to NetApp’s solutions. The partnership with NetApp and KL Information & Communication has allowed us to simplify our complex backup environment by consolidating it with a single vendor,” and added, “We hope to continue collaborating with NetApp for future advanced infrastructure projects, including video lectures and remote classes.”
Min-Chul Jeong, Team Leader at KL Information & Communication, added: “We are very pleased to provide Semyung University with a stable and efficient IT solution through close cooperation with NetApp. The newly implemented solutions will greatly enhance the university’s academic operations and research environment. We will continue to support Semyung University’s ongoing development in collaboration with NetApp.”
“We are proud to bring positive changes to Semyung University’s academic operations and research environment through this solution implementation,” said Henry Kho, Area Vice President and General Manager, Greater China, ASEAN and South Korea, at NetApp. “NetApp’s high-performance storage and backup solutions have revolutionised the university’s IT infrastructure, enabling faculty and students to learn and research in a more stable and efficient environment. As the leader in unified data storage, NetApp will continue to strive for IT infrastructure innovation through our advanced solutions.”
