Maxis Scholarship Programme 2025 Opens Applications to Develop Future-Ready Digital Talent

Prioritises Critical Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Fields like Engineering, AI, and Data Science Essential for Driving Malaysia's Digital Transformation

Maxis has introduced its Maxis Scholarship Programme 2025, designed to support promising Malaysian students in their higher education journeys. The Programme reflects the Company’s commitment to nurturing talent that will spearhead the nation’s digital ambitions and help build an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-ready workforce.

Formerly open only to first-year undergraduates, the Programme has been expanded this year to also include second-year undergraduates, and postgraduates between the ages of 18-23 enrolled in recognised higher education institutions in Malaysia. The scholarships provide financial support, covering both tuition and living expenses. Scholars will also receive opportunities for internships and job placements with Maxis upon graduation, subject to meeting academic and programme criteria.

Patrick Er, Chief People & Transformation Officer of Maxis, said: “As Malaysia’s leading integrated telco, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders through our Maxis Scholarship Programme. The programme combines crucial financial support with practical industry exposure to develop Malaysia’s future talent. Aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan’s (RMK13) emphasis on AI readiness, this initiative will prepare scholars to excel professionally and become key contributors to our nation’s digital transformation. This reflects our belief that ‘Tomorrow Begins Today’, as we empower young Malaysian talent to shape the nation’s digital future.”

The programme continues to prioritise Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, and related disciplines that are critical to Malaysia’s digital transformation. Eligible areas of study include Engineering (Network, Telecommunications, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic); Technology (Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Technology); Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science; and Accounting, Finance, or Economics.

To date, Maxis has supported 349 students through its scholarship programmes. Applications are open now until 12 September 2025.
