Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Transsion Strengthen Digital Inclusion Through IM3, Tri Service Integration

The Two Companies Also Plan to Explore Further Collaborative Innovations That May Include Co-Branded Device Offerings, Expanded App Integrations, and More

On the occasion of the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) and Transsion Holdings recently signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate digital inclusion in Indonesia. This partnership brings together Indosat’s reliable connectivity services—IM3 and Tri—and Transsion’s strength in delivering affordable smart devices, enabling more Indonesians, particularly in rural and underserved areas, to benefit from seamless digital access.

Attendees at the signing ceremony included Benjamin Jiang Shuming, Vice President of Transsion Holdings; Simon Xiang Hailong, President of Transsion Mobile Internet; Muhammad Buldansyah, Director and Chief Business Officer Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison; Vivek Mehendiratta, Chief Marketing Officer Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison; and Nicky Lee (Lee Chi Hung), Director and Chief Financial Officer Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.

As part of this collaboration, Indosat will extend its service reach through over 10,000 Transsion retail outlets nationwide. These outlets will not only function as distribution hubs for Indosat SIM cards, but also as points of access to a broader range of digital services. In addition, Transsion devices will come pre-installed with Indosat’s myIM3 and bima+ apps, allowing users to conveniently manage data plans, access content, and stay connected right from the start.

To further support affordability, the partnership will introduce 0% installment plans, lowering the barrier to smartphone ownership and digital connectivity for millions of Indonesians. This bundled offering will also include eSIM options, making it easier than ever for users to activate and switch between services with minimal friction.

Vivek Mehendiratta, Chief Marketing Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, stated: “This collaboration represents a meaningful step forward in our efforts to empower every Indonesian with accessible, affordable, and relevant digital solutions. By leveraging Transsion’s distribution reach and Indosat’s network reliability, we are creating opportunities for more communities to participate in the digital economy. This partnership is a continuation of our mission to build an inclusive digital nation.”

According to data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), internet penetration in Indonesia reached 79.5% in 2024. However, there is a significant disparity between urban and rural areas, with rural internet penetration at only 30.5%. This partnership is expected to provide broader access to reach communities and offer high-quality digital connectivity.

Benjamin Jiang, Vice President of Transsion Holdings, shared: “Indonesia is a key strategic market for Transsion in Southeast Asia. By leveraging IOH’s strong local brand influence and combining it with our technological innovation and services, we aim to continue providing Indonesian consumers with high-quality, high-value smart products and digital experiences, accelerating the country’s digital evolution.”

Beyond the immediate rollout of bundled connectivity and device solutions, the two companies also plan to explore further collaborative innovations. These may include co-branded device offerings, expanded app integrations, and localised digital services tailored to regional user needs.

This partnership builds on Indosat’s wider commitment to deliver a marvelous experience for every customer and to ensure that no one is left behind in the digital era. With aligned visions and complementary strengths, Indosat and Transsion are well-positioned to become long-term partners in expanding access to technology and empowering communities across Indonesia.
