Alibaba Cloud, Pictureworks Elevate Digital Imaging Across Asia with New Collaboration

The AI-Powered Imaging Solution Has Benefitted Seven Top Global Tourist Attractions Across Asia by Enhancing Visitor’s Digital Experience

Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, has announced its collaboration with Pictureworks, a leading provider of innovative photography imaging solutions to elevate digital imaging solutions and enhance visitor’s experience for theme parks, attractions, and the tourism industry, with a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today.

The collaboration has now been deployed across seven top global tourist attractions across Asia with more projects in the pipeline. Specifically, leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s robust and secure cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, Pictureworks has generated over 150,000 photos at an award-winning theme park in Hong Kong.

Pictureworks has deployed Alibaba Cloud’s extensive and robust AI and cloud technology to revolutionise the way photos are captured. The key solutions include Alibaba Cloud’s Platform for Artificial Intelligence (PAI), Function Compute, and Object Storage Services (OSS).

  • Alibaba Cloud’s PAI is set to simplify the Machine Learning (ML) lifecycle by providing a fully managed service for deploying ML models. This will enable Pictureworks to tweak the AI models as needed within extremely short timelines.
  • By leveraging Function Compute, Pictureworks will be able to effectively build a serverless architecture, eliminating the need for infrastructure management. This will lead to increased agility and reduced operational overhead. The pay-as-you-go charging model allows Pictureworks to pay for the compute time based on the actual consumption, making it cost-effective for AI imaging.
  • The OSS on the other hand, serves as the transient storage of raw photos and generates notifications when new files arrive, triggering the respective processing defined in the Function Compute, also is charged only according to the actual storage used.

Alibaba Cloud Offers Flexibility, Agility and More to Pictureworks

These technological advancements offer Pictureworks greater flexibility to capture high-quality images in diverse settings and position it at the forefront of technological evolution, ensuring that its operations and services consistently reflect the latest innovations and remain competitive in the global market.

“We are thrilled to work with Pictureworks to bring their innovative vision to life using our advanced cloud technology. By leveraging our AI capabilities and scalable cloud infrastructure, Pictureworks is setting a new standard in digital imaging, allowing for more dynamic and immersive experiences. This collaboration not only showcases the innovation of Alibaba Cloud’s solutions but also demonstrates our commitment to driving digital transformation across industries,” said Kun Huang, General Manager of South APAC, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

“Alibaba Cloud’s technology has revolutionised the way Pictureworks captures photos, eliminating the need for specific locations like green screens. This flexibility enables the capture of high-quality images in a variety of settings, thereby enhancing the overall customer experience with more natural and dynamic photographic memories,” said Sharon Tse, CEO at Pictureworks.

As one of the world’s leading cloud service providers, Alibaba Cloud boasts a network of 89 availability zones in 30 regions across the globe, offering a highly secure, scalable, robust cloud infrastructure to support global customers embracing digital innovation while keeping sustainability in mind. Alibaba Cloud is also the first global cloud provider with twin local data centres established in Malaysia since 2017 and has launched its first cloud-based Anti-DDoS Scrubbing Center locally in 2018 serving the region.
