Extreme Broadband Sdn Bhd (EBB) today announced that it has partnered with AHAM Asset Management Berhad (AHAM Capital) in its public cloud transformation project. The collaboration will see AHAM Capital utilise EBB’s connectivity solutions including IX-Connect and Virtual-router to be used in its cloud connectivity project.
Since rolling out the service, the IX-Connect has helped AHAM Capital to reduce its cloud connectivity latency by 50% providing greater responsiveness and faster access to end users.
EBB’s IX-connect is a highly secured layer-2 dedicated connectivity service that links the customer network to the DE-CIX Internet Exchange for peering and cloud connectivity. Customers can benefit from a dedicated and secure symmetric connection to DE-CIX, through which they can connect to multiple cloud providers while also peering with all participating networks in the public IX platform. The EBB’s Virtual router allows customers to route traffic between networks and public cloud providers without bringing the traffic back to their premises, thereby greatly enhancing the performance of the customer’s multi-clouds network.
As the financial services industry undergoes a significant digital transition to the cloud, many players are looking for ways to connect to multiple cloud providers to find ways to improve their network latency. With IX-Connect, banks, insurers and other financial service providers are now able to connect to a versatile Internet Exchange hub like DE-CIX; where not only can they connect to multiple cloud providers, but also conduct peering with other networks directly to lower their network latency. All these functions are consolidated and delivered using single connectivity.
“As a future-focused asset manager, we are constantly looking for ways to innovate and enhance our clients’ investing experience. As the world migrates to a cloud-based environment, factors like connectivity, security, as well as ease of access, will be critical. After extensive research and testing, we decided to partner with EBB in our public cloud transformation project that would significantly enhance network performance and improve capacity,” said Allen Woo, Chief Technology Officer of AHAM Capital.
Allen adds, “EBB’s connectivity solutions including IX-Connect will serve our needs by fulfilling the last-mile gap and enable us to connect to DE-CIX Internet Exchange at ease. These efforts bode well for our innovation journey as we seek to continuously deliver value to our clients.”
Meanwhile, Wong Weng Yew, Founder and Managing Director of EBB said, “Our partnership with AHAM Capital has once again validated the fact that our innovative IX product can bring substantial value to the financial services industry. We believe corporations are taking steps to enhance user experience in their digital transformation. EBB solutions fit in well to support corporations in their digitalisation journey.”
EBB’s future-ready connectivity solutions allowed AHAM Capital to enjoy the scale and economics of the public cloud without compromising network performance, and to onboard any cloud connectivity from their premise to any major cloud provider in the world.
This enabled EBB to secure a win for the Connectivity – Financial Services category by Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards, an awards organisation that recognises exceptional companies leading the technological revolution and digital journeys of their respective industries to boost Malaysia’s ever-growing economy.
The award was a testament to the effectiveness of EBB’s project that granted AHAM Capital the ability to reduce its cloud connectivity latency to below 10ms round-trip time, which provided greater responsiveness and faster access to cloud workload.
