New STT Jakarta 2 Sees Groundbreaking as STT GDC Expands Indonesian Footprint
The Facility Will Be Next After STT Jakarta 1 and Is the Second of Four Planned Data Centres
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Indonesia) or STT GDC Indonesia, a leading data centre services provider, has announced the groundbreaking of its second data centre facility in Indonesia—STT Jakarta 2. This is the second of four planned data centres in the country, further expanding STT GDC’s presence in Indonesia.
STT Jakarta 2 will be part of the STT Jakarta Data Centre Campus and has a development potential of 24 megawatts (MW) of IT power, supplied through dual feeds. The campus features its own dedicated 150kV substation, ensuring redundancy with independent connections to multiple PLN substations.
“Indonesia is experiencing rapid digital growth, driven by the increasing adoption of cloud computing, AI, and big data. The data centre colocation market in Indonesia is projected to grow at a CAGR of 22% from 2023 to 20281, driven by rising demand for hyperscale and colocation data centres services,” said Hendrikus Hendra Gozali, Country Head, Indonesia, PT STT GDC Indonesia. “This new data centre will provide the critical infrastructure needed to support Indonesia’s digital economy, ensuring that businesses have the capacity and resilience required to thrive in the digital age.”
STT Jakarta 2 Set to Be a Crucial Asset in Indonesia’s Digital Transformation
Strategically located in Bekasi, Jawa Barat, STT Jakarta 2 will offer an IT load capacity of 24 MW upon completion, contributing significantly to STT GDC Indonesia’s target of achieving a total IT load of over 90 MW in the coming years. This makes STT Jakarta 2 a crucial asset in the region’s digital transformation and a key component of STT GDC’s broader commitment to developing state-of-the-art, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-ready data centres across Asia’s emerging markets, reinforcing its position as a leader in the region’s digital economy.
STT Jakarta 2 will support the Indonesia’s digital transformation, with initiatives like the Vision of Digital Indonesia 2045 and the Indonesian National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence (Stranas KA) launched by the Ministry of Research and Technology. These initiatives aim to position Indonesia as a digital hub in Southeast Asia by enhancing infrastructure and promoting AI adoption across industries.

The development of STT Jakarta 2 is part of STT GDC’s broader strategy to expand its data centre footprint in Indonesia. STT Jakarta 1, its first DC in the country, has been operational since June 2023 with a design IT capacity of 18MW. Construction of the second facility is underway and is expected to be completed by 2026. STT GDC remains committed to its vision of building a sustainable and resilient digital future for Indonesia.
