Pattern Expands in Asia Pacific to Fuel E-Commerce Market Growth

Pattern, the category leader for global e-commerce marketplace expansion and acceleration, is at the forefront of the digital retail revolution in Asia Pacific (APAC), consistently setting new standards and uncovering new opportunities for brands looking to gain sales traction in the region. Marked by four consecutive years of expansion in APAC, 50% year-on-year growth in the region, as well as significant increases in its workforce, Pattern’s growth trajectory and strong foothold here, continue at a steady pace as the company zeroes in on five key markets: Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, India, and China.

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Lehi, Utah, United States, Pattern helps brands optimise sales and achieve brand control on e-commerce marketplaces including Tmall Global, Coupang, Amazon, JD.com, Lazada, and Shopee. Pattern was named by Deloitte as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America for the second consecutive year. The company also completed a record-breaking year in 2022 by surpassing US $1 billion in sales, emerging as the undisputed leader in e-commerce acceleration. Additionally, Newsweek recently ranked the company as one of the Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces in the World.

In 2022, the company made considerable strides in expanding its APAC presence to boost growth opportunities and a deep talent pool in the region. With significant e-commerce growth across the region and government initiatives to boost digital retail,  Pattern’s market expansion strategy in APAC will tap into unique opportunities in each of these diverse markets. These include: developing Singapore as a strategic hub for Pattern’s global operations, broadening e-marketplace capabilities for merchants in Japan, leveraging distribution and supply chain channels in Malaysia, and deepening data-led technology development in India.

Additionally, the company has set ambitious targets for its operations in China, having already increased its headcount by 70% across the mainland and Hong Kong. Pattern aims to increase headcount by an additional 30% over the next year, reflecting confidence in the Chinese market and commitment to building a strong presence in the country to provide support for new and existing clients.

Pattern is a Gold Tmall Global Trade Partner, working closely with a number of high-profile Western brands wanting to gain traction in the Chinese market.

In May 2023, Pattern’s impact on e-commerce acceleration in China was recognised at the Tmall Global Merchant Conference in Hangzhou, scooping up three awards for exceptional performance by online brands in the country. Among the winning brands was Jan Marini Skin Research,  winning the Supernova Brand of the Year award in the beauty category for its 200%+ month-on-month growth since its 6-month launch on Tmall, and  Fortnum & Mason, a 315-year-old British retail and hospitality brand who won the Supernova Brand of the Year award in the F&B category for its growth to a Top 5 brand in the tea category on the platform.
